A judge set a $10,000 bond today for the Dalton High School teacher who fired a shot in class.

Conasauga Judicial Circuit District Attorney Bert Poston reached an agreement this morning with Richard Murray, the attorney for Jesse Randal Davidson. If he gets out of jail, he will wear an electronic ankle monitor and go to Hamilton Medical Center's emergency room for an evaluation. He will then go to a mental health services inpatient center, where he will stay until a judge issues another order.

As part of the bond agreement, Davidson will also allow Dalton police to search his home, car or any other place "under his control" for guns. Poston will be able to give those guns to a third party, who will hold them until a judge issues an order to the contrary.

Davidson is also banned from going onto the grounds of any school. He cannot reach out to staff or students from Dalton High School.

On Feb. 28, Dalton police say Davidson locked himself alone in a classroom. When Principal Steve Bartoo tried to open the door, Davidson shouted something and fired a .38 out his window. Davidson sneaked the gun onto campus in his computer bag, according to police.

Officers charged him with aggravated assault, carrying a weapon on school grounds, terroristic threats, reckless conduct, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, and disrupting a public school.

In a news release, Poston said his office consulted with administrators from the Dalton Public Schools system, as well as representatives for students and parents. He said Judge Cindy Morrie signed the bond order at 11 a.m. today, and Davidson could be released from the Whitfield County Jail later today.
