KNOXVILLE - Tennessee football picked up its second verbal commitment in the 2019 recruiting class on Friday.

Jackson Lowe, a tight end from Cartersville, Ga., announced his commitment to the Volunteers, choosing Tennessee over offers from several other Power Five conference schools.

Lowe is considered a three-star prospect by 247Sports and Rivals. Verbal commitments are non-binding. Lowe's first opportunity to sign a national letter of intent will come in December.

The 6-foot-5 tight end from Cartersville High School joins offensive lineman Jackson Lampley as the players verbally committed to Tennessee's 2019 signing class.

Tennessee appears to have numerous options at tight end entering the 2018 season, and none of those players are seniors, meaning Lowe could face plenty of competition for early playing time.

Redshirt junior Eli Wolf and redshirt sophomore Austin Pope are returners at the position who played some in 2017. Freshman Jacob Warren has enrolled early and is participating in spring practice, while junior college Dominick Wood-Anderson is expected to immediately compete for playing time when he arrives this summer.

Other options at tight end include rising sophomore LaTrell Bumphus, sophomore James Brown and redshirt sophomore Ja'Quain Blakely, who is playing tight end in spring practices after spending last season with the defensive line.

According to Maxpreps.com, Lowe caught 16 passes for 340 yards and six touchdowns for a Cartersville team that went 11-1 in 2017.
