Whitfield County Sheriff's investigators found a dead body wrapped in a tarp at the bottom of a shallow grave in the woods this morning.

According to a news release from the agency, the investigators believe the body is that of Christine Medlin, who has been missing since March 2017. She was 39 when she disappeared.

The department arrested Medlin's girlfriend in connection to the case today. Amy Gale Duckett, 49, faces charges of false statements, concealing the death person and hindering law enforcement.

Investigators found the body in the woods off Novella Drive around 10 a.m., after someone gave them "reliable information" about where Medlin's body was. The shallow grave was behind a home.

Duckett served a couple prison stints in Georgia for past cases, according to the state's Department of Corrections website.

She was convicted in a 2007 forgery case, a 2001 possession of cocaine case and a 2001 theft by receiving stolen property cases. She served prison terms from 2001-03 and 2008-09.

On her Facebook page, Christine Medlin wrote, "i love you Amy."

Sheriff Scott Chitwood said he expects the department to make more arrests.
