Two arrested, one sought in Georgia convenience store shooting

LaFayette woman, Sparta, Tenn., man charged

Authorities in Georgia and Tennessee have arrested two people in connection with the early Monday shooting of a Florida man at an Adairsville, Ga., convenience store.

Around 9 p.m. Monday, Adairsville and LaFayette police, Walker County deputies and GBI agents arrested 20-year-old LaFayette resident Destany Marie Schubert, who was identified as the driver of a gold Toyota Camry involved in the shooting, Adairsville police Chief Mike Jones said in a statement.

The Camry, shown in store surveillance footage, was recovered in Ringgold, Jones said.

Another suspect, 25-year-old Sparta, Tenn., resident Michael Sean Conner, was apprehended in Marion County following a police pursuit involving Conner and a reportedly stolen vehicle, Jones said.

Another woman, believed to be a passenger in the Camry, has been identified as Kristy Lynn Davis, who is still at large, Jones said.

Davis is believed to be in the North Georgia or Tennessee area and police are asking community members to refrain from approaching her.

The shooting happened at 3:35 a.m. Monday at the Quik Trip convenience store on Highway 140 near Interstate 75, Jones said. The victim, 30-year-old Clearwater, Fla., resident Jonathan Michael Meyer, was airlifted to Erlanger hospital in Chattanooga in critical condition, officials said.

Meanwhile, Schubert is being held in the Bartow County Jail and is charged with aggravated assault. Jones said warrants have been issued for the arrest of Conner and Davis for aggravated assault.

Davis is charged with aggravated assault, party to a crime of aggravated battery, party to a crime of criminal attempt to commit armed robbery, party to a crime of aggravated assault and discharging a firearm within a vehicle towards a person.

"We would like to thank the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, LaFayette Police Department, Walker County Sheriff's Office and the Catoosa County Sheriff's Office for their assistance with this investigation," Jones said.
