Chattanooga police have arrested a man accused of raping a pre-teen girl earlier this year.

Officers responded to a report of a child rape at an undisclosed location on Jan. 26 and met with the person the victim confided in, according to a news release. The informant told officers the child said she was sexually assaulted by a man known to the family as Toran Madding.

On Feb. 7, police police responded to a report of a delayed aggravated assault and domestic violence call. The victim told officers Madding grabbed her by the hair, pushed her head into a refrigerator and knocked her to the ground.

A witness said she saw him sitting on top of the victim, choking her with both hands. Warrants were issued for his arrest shortly after.

Madding also had warrants out for his arrest in connection to another assault in January. The victim in that case said Madding hit her in the face and choked her. Officers observed swelling on her face.

His next court appearance is scheduled for June 4 before General Sessions Judge Lila Statom.
