Two men are facing a litany of charges after officers arrested them for trespassing in a vacant home with multiple firearms and a large amount of marijuana.

Police responded to the 1100 block of Garfield Street on Friday afternoon and spoke with the 911 caller, a handyman who had been tasked by a landlord with changing the locks on a vacant home he owned there.

However, when the man showed up to do the job, he found two men on the porch who told him they had bought the house and were living there. He also said he saw one of the men hand off a bag of what appeared to be marijuana to the occupants of a maroon-colored Ford Expedition that pulled up to the home.

Both men were back out on the front porch when the officer arrived, but went inside when they saw the patrol car. The handyman gave the officer permission to enter the home to remove the men, but both the front and back doors were locked.

After a moment, the officer saw Brandon Summey, 20, exit the back door. He told the officer no one else was home, but another man, Dylan Heard, 18, also walked out the door in front of police. Officers placed both men in handcuffs.

Summey told officers there were no narcotics inside, but officers went in to clear the home and found 991 grams of marijuana and several firearms, one of which had been stolen. He told officers he knew the firearm was stolen and that he purchased it from someone named "J-money" in East Brainerd.

In addition to the drugs and guns, officers found two book bags containing several iPhones and pistol magazines along with more ammunition of various calibers. Police found 17 pistol magazines, two of which were 50-round drum magazines, and several rounds of 7.62x39 ammunition, which officers noted is for an "AK-47-style rifle."

Summey's room also contained two firearms and $2,130 in cash. His girlfriend said the money was hers from tips. Summey said he wanted to keep the money, but officers seized it "due to the high probability" it had been earned through the sale of narcotics.

Heard was charged with possessing a firearm with intent to go armed, unlawful possession of a firearm, possession of drug paraphernalia and three counts of possession of a firearm during commission or attempt to commit a felony.

Summey was charged with drugs general category for resale, possession of drug paraphernalia, possessing a firearm with intent to go armed and possession of a firearm during commission or attempt to commit a felony.
