A Creekstone Drive home was heavily damaged in a fire that was reported at 3:46 p.m. Sunday.

Chattanooga Fire Department Battalion Chief Nate Middlebrooks said in a news release that the fire at 8517 Creekstone Drive appeared to have started in a bathroom and then spread up into the ceiling.

Firefighters quickly snuffed out the fire in the bathroom, but had to open up the ceiling in numerous locations to get to the fire elsewhere, the battalion chief said.

Middlebrooks said the loss was estimated at $225,000 for the structure and contents. No one was injured.

No one was home when the fire was discovered, officials said. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
