Running of the Chihuahuas returns May 4 to First Tennessee Pavilion in Chattanooga

Chihuahuas will once again be celebrated when the Running of the Chihuahuas event returns May 4 to First Tennessee Pavilion at 1825 Reggie White Blvd. in Chattanooga.

Registration for this annual Cinco De Mayo weekend tradition, which draws more than 150 of the tiny athletes, is now underway at runningofthechihuahuas.com or hits96.com.

Local radio station Hits 96 has been the producer of the event since its inception 12 years ago.

In addition to the chihuahua races, the festival includes food and live music. The lineup will be announced March 27. Past performers have included Bryce Vine, Rachel Platten, AJR, Hot Shelle Rae and Aaron Carter.
