Truck fire slows traffic on I-75 North near East Brainerd exit

The cab of a semi truck was destroyed by fire Thursday afternoon near the East Brainerd exit on Interstate 75 heading north, according to the Chattanooga Fire Department.

Northbound lanes were closed as crews worked the scene. As of 4:35 p.m., three of four lanes of traffic had reopened. Traffic was slowed all the way back toward downtown on Interstate 24.

The fire from the truck spread to nearby trees. Crews with the fire department extinguished the truck and brush fires. No injuries were reported.

It's not clear what caused the fire, the release states.
