Carter Street seeks more aid

The Carter Street Corp. will seek a slight increase in funding from the city and the Chattanooga Area Convention and Visitors Bureau for the Chattanooga Convention Center, officials said Wednesday.

The panel will request $223,318 from each entity for the upcoming fiscal year, up from a request of $219,000.

The estimated deficit in the 2011 budget year is set at $446,635, up from a budgeted deficit of $438,000 in the 2010 fiscal year. Revenue is projected to drop 8.5 percent in the new year.

Also, Jimmy Hudson, the panel's chairman, said the board will decide next month whether to proceed with a search to hire a new director of the center.
