VW reports higher U.S. sales

Volkswagen of America on Tuesday reported October sales climbed 17.9 percent over a year ago, with the new Jetta driving the increase.

The redesigned Jetta sold 5,464 cars in its first full month of sales, the best non-cash for clunker sales month for Jetta since 2005, according to VW.

Mark Barnes, Volks-wagen of America's chief operating officer, said it is "good to see the all-new Jetta getting off to such a promising start, and our TDI products to continue to do well."
