• What: Hand-crafted jewelry.

• Company: Stone & Bone Custom Hand Made Jewelry

• Address: 1000 Woodfinch Trail

• Website:

• Telephone: 991-9053

• Owners: Terrie Williams

• What's special: Because all of Stone & Bone's jewelry is made by hand and generally custom ordered, the results are personalized and one of a kind, said owner Terrie Williams. "I do my own designs," she said. "If you want a charm bracelet, which I sell a ton of, I ask questions like favorite color, their favorite activities, and put it together according to the person. Each piece is personal."

• The origin story: Williams, 53, said she has had a lifelong love of crafting, but she became fascinated with making her own jewelry as a sophomore in high school to save money on accessories. "I couldn't really afford to purchase jewelry, so I started making my own," she said, adding that she began with simple bracelets and earrings before graduating to more difficult designs incorporating techniques such as weaving. In addition to her crafting, she works as a professional dog groomer and runs her own farm. She began selling her jewelry three years ago. About 18 months ago, she opened a website, through which she conducts the majority of her sales.

• How long does it take to make: Two to 10 days, depending on complexity of the design.

• Where it's sold: Exclusively online and via phone or email orders.

• What it costs: $7 to $35.

• Lessons of the trade: Williams said maintaining a high degree of quality in her piece is a must. "I have a money-back guarantee policy, and if you don't like it, I'll give you every nickel back," she said. "I haven't had one piece returned."
