Dalton, Ga.-based MFG Chemical formally opened a newly acquired chemical production facility Friday in Whitfield County, creating 20 jobs in an expansion designed to strengthen the company's "position as a supplier to the specialty chemical markets," said Chuck Gavin, president of the company.

The plant at 1804 Kimberly Park Drive in Dalton provides room for expansion, and will serve as a technical and product development center in addition to a manufacturing hub, the Georgia Department of Economic Development said in a news release.

"I am excited to see MFG Chemical take advantage of Georgia's progressive business environment and create a broader presence in Georgia," Chris Cummiskey, commissioner of GDED, said Friday.

The facility is MFG's third in Dalton, according to the company's website.
