La-Z-Boy hailed for plant safety

photo Contributed Photo La-Z-Boy of Tennessee has been named one of the 20 top plants in the nation by Industry Week magazine.

The Dayton, Tenn., La-Z-Boy plant has gone 4 million hours without a lost-time injury, the company said in a news release.

Employees will celebrate the milestone today, along with a 75 percent reduction in recordable injuries over the last four years, according to Darrell Edwards, company vice president, who credited the lack of injuries with "teamwork and continued efforts in working safely," according to the release.

The company has been twice nominated in IndustryWeek Magazine's "Best Plants" competition, the first company in Tennessee to receive the honor two times, the company added.
