The nation's biggest Taco Bell franchisee closed its Signal Mountain restaurant this week because of poor sales at that store, but the company is reopening its tornado-damaged Taco Bell in Ringgold, Ga., today.

Tacala LLC, the Birmingham, Ala.-based chain that operates 24 Taco Bell restaurants in its Chattanooga region, shut down the Taco Bell on Taft Highway on Signal Mountain on Tuesday night.

"It was a business decision, and we hope consumers will visit our other Taco Bell locations, including our nearby unit in Red Bank," Tacala marketing Vice President Marjorie Perlman said Wednesday.

The Ringgold Taco Bell was badly damaged in the April 27 tornado and will celebrate its grand reopening today.
