Two sentenced in meth ring case

Two men indicted on methamphetamine-related charges were sentenced to prison time in federal court this week.

Chief U.S. District Judge Curtis Collier sentenced Glenn "Rick" Skiles and Timothy "Fuzz Face" Davis on Thursday. The pair are two of 39 co-defendants in a case involving meth manufacture, distribution and violent related crimes from 2007 to 2009.

Federal prosecutors originally charged 26 co-defendants in 2009 and added more suspects with subsequent indictments.

Skiles and Davis pleaded guilty to their involvement in the alleged meth ring and, in return, prosecutors agreed to dismiss many of the charges against them.

Collier sentenced Davis to three years in prison on a conspiracy to manufacture meth charge. Skiles received more than 15 years on a conspiracy to distribute meth charge.

Skiles was indicted earlier on three additional distribution counts, five counts related to manufacturing meth, three counts of possession of the drug, six counts of meth sales and three counts of weapons or violent crime-related crimes.

Davis had been charged with five additional counts related to meth manufacture, two counts of distribution and two counts of possession.

Twenty-five of the defendants either have been sentenced or had charges dismissed in the sweeping meth case. Four of the remaining co-defendants - Harry "Osama" Pritchett, Eddie "Stump" Rollins, Jessie Johnson and Mike "Paranoia" Coffelt - are set for trial Aug. 18.

CARTA seeking to keep teen off bus

CARTA has filed court documents to keep a teen passenger charged with beating another passenger with a brick from boarding the bus for two weeks.

Hamilton County Chancery Court documents state that on June 17, a 17-year-old and another woman believed to be her relative boarded the CARTA bus at Belle Vista Avenue and Phoenix Avenue.

The pair then assaulted a female passenger using a brick and a knife that the teen hid in her purse when she boarded.

The beating victim was treated at a local hospital.

There was no information available as to whether the teen had been arrested on criminal charges since she is a juvenile. The other alleged attacker was not named in the court documents.
