DUNLAP, Tenn. -- James Fields walked through the aisles of the new Tractor Supply store looking at various kinds of fencing with his wife, Ester, over the weekend.

Fields says he typically has to go to Kimball, Chattanooga or McMinnville if he wants anything, so he is glad the Dunlap store is open.

"I like the convenience, I don't like to travel," he said, noting that he hopes other stores and restaurants will follow suit.

The newest Tractor Supply store opened Saturday in Dunlap and will mark its grand opening this Saturday. The store offers a variety of products for animals, gardens and farming.

Whitwell resident Lynya Glenn was shopping for dog items last Saturday.

"I'm glad it's here. I've been having to drive all the way to Kimball. It's just closer to my house," she said.

Eric Swafford, the associate manager for the store with a background in animal science, said the new store brings animal products and services closer to people in the Dunlap area.

The new Tractor Supply is in the old Bi-Lo building where highways 127 and 28 meet; it employs 11 workers.

"Folks did a lot of hard work to get it ready for us," Swafford said. "We could not be more excited."
