Tennessee has been named one of the six most improved states for energy efficiency, according to the newest State Energy Efficiency Scorecard by the American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy.
Although the Southeast continues to have one of the highest per-capita rates for electricity consumption, Tennessee was cited by the group for adopting stricter energy requirement in its building codes and starting a loan program for energy improvements.
TVA also has set a goal of being a national leader in promoting energy efficiency and is paying consumers to cut consumption, especially during peak demand.
