Former UnumProvident CEO Harold Chandler has been named non-executive chairman of Milliken & Co., the Spartanburg, S.C.-based technology company serving the textile, chemical, and carpet industries. Chandler, who has served on the board of the privately held Milliken company for the past decade, replaces the retiring Dan Sanders.
In 2003, Chandler was ousted as head of the Chattanooga-based insurance company now known as Unum Corp. The next year, he was named chief operating officer of Universe Workplace Solutions, a Goldman Sachs Capital Partners company.
Milliken is one of seven corporate boards on which Chandler has served as a director and he is also chairman of the board of trustees for Wofford College.
