Name: Kristina Hill

Position: Seamstress

Location: Monica's Bridal

First job: Working in a restaurant

Favorite part of the job: "The best part is when the girls have a dress they really like, but they're unhappy with a little part of it and we get to go in and make some changes on the dress and make it exactly what they want, like adding a personal touch to it. It always makes me happy when I get to go in and do any kind of creative designing."

How she got started: "My college degree is in fashion design, and my grandmother taught me to sew when I was 8. So I've been sewing forever."

Least favorite part of the job: "Sometimes things are going to take a little longer than someone may like, and it's kind of disappointing. They just have to be patient. A little beading takes a long time. I guess it gets frustrating if it gets to be done over a longer period of time than they may like. It's tedious work. People sometimes don't understand that."

Challenges: "A lot of the challenges come when a girl will try on her dress and get an image in her head, but a lot of times when she comes back later, what she thought was going to happen isn't what happened. A lot of times that's because of the physical limitations of the fabric or the construction of the dress. It's learning to speak (the clients') language so they understand what we're going to do."

What she's learning: "I learn a lot of patience. Like with beads, they're all really tiny and you break it down and are looking at one little bead, but when you put it all together, if you can just be patient to get through the whole thing, in the end, it's going to make something really pretty."
