Locally grown food eatery to open in North Shore

Nearly a decade after a former Exxon gas station closed in North Chattanooga, a cafe featuring locally grown food will open this summer on the abandoned site. Mike Mayo and Ann Keener are co-owners of the new restaurant, to be known as The Farmer's Daughter.

The pair used to work at the Greenlife grocery store across the street and are renovating the 2,000-square-foot former service station into a cafe featuring organic, locally grown foods. Keener grew up on Sequatchie Cove Farm owned by her parents.

"The site is in a great neighborhood with more than 12,000 vehicles passing by every day," Mayo said. He said he hopes to be able to open the cafe by June and initially will feature breakfast and lunch menus.
