FORT PAYNE, Ala. - Seven years after Sara Lee Corp. shut down its 550-employee textile plant, the shuttered 350,000-square-foot factory is being put back in production.

Jet Polymer Recycling, which recycles plastic into pallets and other products, announced Tuesday it will move its main operations into the former Sara Lee plant, which the city of Fort Payne bought in 2009 for $1.2 million to market for other use. Ed Traylor of EAT Properties LLC bought the plant last week and will move about 30 employees into the operation in the next three months.

"This is a great company that has been in Dekalb County with an operation in Rainsville since the 1970s," said Jimmy Durham, executive director of the DeKalb County Economic Development Authority.
