The Tennessee Valley Authority plans to add around 100 jobs at its Browns Ferry Nuclear Plant in the next year.

TVA chief nuclear officer Preston Swafford said the plan is part of an effort to improve performance and safety at the North Alabama plant, which has been operating under heightened federal scrutiny after reporting a number of regulatory violations.

Keith Polson, Browns Ferry site vice president, says the new jobs will involve various specialties such as engineering, maintenance, radiation protection, chemistry, work control and emergency planning. Browns Ferry has about 1,300 employees and 700 contract employees.
