Name: 2 Sista's Deli with a Twist

Owners: Sandra Kelley and Cynthia Halfacre

Location: 752 M.L. King Blvd.

Hours: Monday 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.; Tuesday through Thursday 10:30 a.m. to 7 p.m.; and Friday and Saturday 10:30 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Menu: Deli sandwiches, Philly steaks, hamburgers, soup, spaghetti, polish dogs, desserts and more

Prices: Entrees range from $4.99 to $7.99

Strategy: Kelley says the new restaurant hopes to attract downtown workers, UTC students and nearby residents with a menu of sandwiches and other entrees. The two sister owners have been lifelong cooks and prepare all of the food.

Background: Halfacre lost her job last year with Olan Mills where she had worked for 33 years when the headquarters complex closed after the company's sale. Kelley had previously run a child-care center and was interested in opening a restaurant. "We decided we should go for it, and we're having a lot of fun," Kelley says. "Most of our business is takeout and, by the grace of God, so far we're doing great."

Size: Seating for 14 and carry-out business

Staff: Five employees
