Engineered Floors in Dalton hiring workers

Engineered Floors is recruiting workers to staff its new plant in Dalton, Ga. The Dalton-based carpet maker will conduct a jobs fair from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday at the Georgia Department of Labor's Dalton Career Center, 1406 Chattanooga Ave.

"We're going to be hiring for just about everything that is involved in manufacturing floors, including extrusion operators, lift truck operators, creelers, finishers, tufting machine operators and other related jobs," said Isabel Pimetel, human resources manager for Engineered Floors.

Engineered Floors is spending nearly $500 million to build and equip facilities in the Dalton area which are projected to employ up to 2,400 workers within five years.

Tennessee certifies Etowah industrial site

The North Etowah Industrial Park on Industrial Drive in Etowah, Tenn., is among five sites the Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development said Tuesday are ready for industrial development.

The state said the McMinn County property is one of a handful of properties that met all of the criteria for development set by the site selection firms, Austin Consulting and The Foote Consulting Group.

Other properties included in as Select Tennessee Certified Sites include the Aviation Park in Blountville, the Aerotropolis Logistics Park in Memphis, the Cardiff Valley Road Site in Rockwood and the Northwest Tennessee Regional Industrial Center in Union City.
