Mike McWherterFormer Democratic gubernatorial nominee Mike McWherter and Huntsville attorney Joe Ritch were sworn into office this week for their new posts on the Tennessee Valley Authority board.
McWherter, who owns a beer distributorship in Jackson, Tenn., and Ritch, only the second Alabaman to serve on the TVA board in the utility's 79-year history, are among four new directors of the federally owned electric utility.
Vera Lynn Evans, an accountant and board member of Memphis Gas, Light and Water, and C. Peter Mahurin, chairman of Hilliard Lyons Financial Services in Bowling Green, Ky., have also joined the TVA board and soon will be sworn into office.
The TVA board next meets Feb. 14 in Chattanooga.
