Walmart opens hiring center for Sweetwater store

Walmart has begun hiring the first of 200 employees for a new 152,000-square-foot superstore planned in Sweetwater, Tenn.

The world's biggest retailer announced Tuesday it has opened a temporary hiring center at 777 State Highway 68, where it will accept applications each weekday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Job applicants also may apply at careers.walmart.com.

"We are excited to add the first Walmart to Sweetwater and bring good jobs with great career opportunities to the area," Sweetwater store manager Daniel Casillas said.

The majority of new associates will begin work in August to help prepare the store for its grand opening planned in September.
