Ducktown wins EPA top honor

The city of Ducktown, Tenn., which has a population of only 475 residents, has won a top environmental honor for its 28-kilovolt solar power installation. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency recognized Ducktown on Wednesday as its community action winner for 2014 for the photo voltaic panels installed on city property in Ducktown.

Ducktown was recognized among only nine projects in the country for the EPA Clean Air Excellence Award.

Moonshine hits East Tennessee

Sugarlands Distilling Co. has partnered with Knoxville Beverage Co. to begin carrying its full line of moonshine in package stores, bars and restaurants across East Tennessee, starting this month

"We are happy to be working with Knoxville Beverage Co. to bring our moonshine to the people of East Tennessee," said Brent Thompson, director of strategy for Sugarlands Distilling Co. "We are honored to share our product with the folks who live and work here, and we look forward to hearing stories of how our shine is being shared in our own backyard," said Thompson.

The company offers seven varieties of moonshine, including the 'legal' version of TV personality and legendary moonshiner Jim Tom Hedrick's unaged rye.
