Harold DePriest among 'urban pioneers'

Fortune magazine has named EPB President Harold DePriest among "a small group of innovative urban pioneers" who "are making chaotic cities not only more sustainable, but more vital and interesting places to live."

The financial magazine praised DePriest for leading the city-owned utility into establishing the first citywide gigabit Internet service anywhere in the Western hemisphere in Chattanooga. The service has helped Chattanooga earn the moniker "Gig City" and "is responsible for creating an estimated 1,000 jobs since its Internet service launched in 2009.

Last year, EPB sold $98 million in Internet services to households and businesses.
