Hearing April 21 on UAW appeal

The National Labor Relations Board hearing on the United Auto Workers request for a revote on unionizing Volkswagen's Chattanooga plant will be held April 21 at the Hamilton County Courthouse, according to the federal agency.

There had been some consideration of holding the hearing in Nashville. The federal agency said the hearing before an administrative law judge will be conducted on consecutive days until it is completed and will offer parties the chance to give testimony and to examine and cross-examine witnesses. Last month, VW's hourly workers at the plant voted 712 to 626 against unionizing the factory after a two-year organizing effort, but the UAW has appealed the vote.

CBL revamps Lexington Sears

CBL & Associates Properties Inc. plans to place a Cheesecake Factory and H&M store in its Fayette Mall in Lexington, Ky., as part of the redevelopment of a former Sears location.

Chattanooga-based CBL's plans include redeveloping the former Sears and expanding the mall entrance to create 115,000-square-feet of new retail space for a mix of fashion stores, home furnishings and fine dining options in the heart of the shopping center. The Cheesecake Factory and H&M are the first of the stores to be announced as part of the redevelopment.

"We are excited to bring both The Cheesecake Factory and H&M to Lexington to further solidify Fayette Mall's status as one of the premier shopping destinations in Lexington and the region," CBL CEO Stephen Lebovitz said.
