United Auto Workers members at Daimler Trucks North America's facilities in North Carolina have ratified a new four-year collective bargaining agreement.

The contract includes a $7,000 ratification bonus and 3 percent wage increases the first and third years of the agreement, with 3 percent lump-sum bonuses in the second and fourth years, the UAW said. Other gains include an increased night shift premium and an attendance bonus program.

"The new four-year agreement between Daimler Trucks North America and the UAW serves the mutual benefit of our company, valued workers and retirees," said Martin Daum, president and CEO of Daimler Trucks North America.

UAW Region 8 Director Gary Casteel, who has responsibility for the Daimler Truck North America facilities in the South, said the UAW is "thankful to have this collaborative relationship" with the German-based manufacturer.

"Daimler Trucks North America is an example of a company that respects workers' rights and has reaped the rewards of working together with its unions and employees," Casteel said.
