Brian Anderson, the president of the Dalton/Whitfield County Chamber of Commerce for the past six and a half years, has been named president and CEO of the Chamber of Commerce in Columbus, Ga.

Anderson, who has headed the Dalton Chamber since 2008, will assume his new job in Columbus in early June.

"Although we are disappointed to lose Brian as our president and CEO, he has given fully of himself in leading our Chamber and our community," said Robert Smalley of McCamy, Phillips, Tuggle & Fordham, LLP, the chairman of the Greater Dalton Chamber Executive Board.

Smalley said the Chamber board and staff will continue all Chamber programs and efforts and a search committee of the board will be formed soon to seek a successor to Anderson.

"I am very grateful for the opportunity to have served the Greater Dalton Chamber and community. Dalton has been home to my wife and children for 15 years and is a wonderful community, so we leave with mixed emotions," said Anderson. "However, Heather and I are excited about our new adventure in Columbus. I saw this as an opportunity to lead a larger Chamber organization that, like the Greater Dalton Chamber, has achieved the 5-Star Accreditation from the U.S. Chamber."
