In brief: Bellhops to expand to 13 more cities in 2015

Bellhops, the on-demand platform that provides a national, branded workforce of college students to help people move in 120 U.S. cities, is expanding to 13 new cities in 2015.

The Chattanooga-based company said Wednesday it will add service this year to Tulsa and Oklahoma City in Oklahoma,Indianapolis and South Bend in Indiana, Portland, Maine, Milwaukee, Wisc., Dekalb, Ill., Boston, Boise, Idaho, Huntsville, Ala,, Omaha, Neb., Wichita, Kan., and Las Vegas. Co-founder Cameron Doody estimates that the company will hire at least 600 students that attend colleges in those cities to meet demand for moving help.

The company places a strong emphasis on giving Bellhops career opportunities after they graduate with more than 25 percent of the employees at the Chattanooga headquarters being former Bellhops. This summer, the company also will offer internships at its Chattanooga headquarters to 30 college students.
