Mercedes to add 800 jobs at new U.S. headquarters in Atlanta

Mercedes-Benz USA will invest $74 million and add at least 800 jobs with its previously announced decision to relocate its U.S. headquarters to Atlanta.

Georgia Gov. Nathan Deal today praised the decision by the German auto maker to move its headquarters from Montvale, N.J. to Atlanta for the distribution, marketing and customer service for all Mercedes-Benz products in the United States.

"With its international name recognition and unmatched reputation for quality, Mercedes-Benz USA's decision to move to Georgia is simply a home run for the state," Deal said in a statement today. "Georgia is home to many growing, globally connected businesses, due in part to our top-ranked economic environment that has made us the No. 1 state for business three times over. Mercedes-Benz will find in Georgia a state that will help its bottom line, and a people who will welcome its team and their families with open arms."

Georgia's automotive sector experienced a 149 percent increase in investment and 11 percent increase in jobs during fiscal 2014.
