Chattanooga CEO Stephen Lebovitz to be named chairman of international industry group

The chief executive of Chattanooga-based CBL & Associates Properties Inc. has been nominated as chairman of the International Council of Shopping Centers.

CBL chief Stephen Lebovitz, 53, will begin his one-year chairmanship in May.

ICSC is a worldwide industry group, with 65,000 members in 100 countries. Its annual budget is $75 million.

CBL is one of the nation's largest real estate investment trusts and the owner of Hamilton Place mall and Northgate Mall in Chattanooga. It also owns Walnut Square Mall in Dalton, Ga. Nationwide, it owns, holds interests in or manages more than 140 properties.

Lebovitz has served in other roles with ICSC prior to taking on his new post, including as ICSC divisional vice president for the New England region for many years.

He also has chaired ICSC functions in the New England region, and served on ICSC's executive committee for several years.

His father and CBL founder and chairman, Charles B. Lebovitz, served as ICSC chairman in 1996-97.
