Erlanger bariatric center accredited

Erlanger Health System's Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Center said Thursday it has achieved a three-year accreditation from the Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Accreditation and Quality Improvement Program (MBSAQIP), a joint program of the American College of Surgeons and the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery.

Erlanger also said Dr. Chris Sanborn, the hospital's medical director for bariatric surgery, has been officially recognized as an MBSAQIP verified surgeon for Erlanger Health System.

The accreditation inspector took note of the team's dedication to patient care and was impressed with the "passion and strong desire for excellence which was obvious throughout the whole dayThis bariatric team is trusted by colleagues. Numerous nurses and providers in the health system had their bariatric surgery done at Erlanger."
