Gasoline prices in Chattanooga were unchanged last week despite a 1.1 cents-per-gallon drop nationwide, according to gasoline price website GasBuddy.com.

Among the 170 retail stations surveyed by GasBuddy, the average price of regular gas in Chattanooga was $1.50 per gallon, the same as a week earlier. Nationwide, gas prices went down 1.1 cents per gallon in the past week to an average $2.80 per gallon.

Chattanooga gas prices have risen nearly 50 cents per gallon over the past six months, but remain 89.7 cents per gallon lower than the same day one year ago. The national average price for gas stands 88.9 cents per gallon lower than this day one year ago.

Overall, gasoline prices remain relatively quiet with the national average dropping just over a penny in the last week," said Patrick DeHaan, GasBuddy senior petroleum analyst. "Meanwhile, diesel prices have closed the gap between gasoline prices and have been dropping since the end of May. Diesel is just a nickel or so more expensive than a gallon of gasoline and that'll likely remain for months."
