The Tennessee Valley Corridor will hold its 20th annual summit in Johnson City on the campus of East Tennessee State University on May 27-28.

The gathering of East Tennessee business leaders will be hosted by ETSU President Dr. Brian Noland, in cooperation with U.S. Rep. Phil Roe, R-Tenn., under the theme "Education Fuels the TVC Economy."

"From our region's community colleges to our outstanding four-year universities, the Corridor has a strong foundation to prepare the next generation of the workforce," Roe said.

The Tennessee Valley Corridor includes 10 congressional districts in East and Middle Tennessee, North Alabama, Western North Carolina, Southwest Virginia and Eastern Kentucky. The corridor was assembled in the 1990s by then U.S. Rep. Zach Wamp, R-Tenn., to help link the assets of Oak Ridge National Laboratory, the Marshall Space Institute in Huntsville, the Arnold Air Force Base and Space Institute in Tullahoma and other federal and research facilities in the region.

"Bringing the Summit to ETSU's campus provides an excellent venue to focus on how education impacts the economy in the Corridor through the perspective of the private sector," Noland said.
