VW's Europe sales up, market share off

Volkswagen AG weathered the initial storm in Europe in the two weeks after the emission-rigging scandal, though market share fell slightly, figures released today show.

For September, VW Group's new passenger car registrations rose 8.4 percent in Europe, according to the European Automobile Manufacturers' Association

The mass-market VW brand, which has been most implicated in the scandal, reported that sales rose 6.6 percent.

The VW Group's European market share dipped to 23.3 percent from 23.6 percent in September 2014.
