Comcast announced today it will add nearly 250 customer care positions in Knoxville over the next two years as part of its $300 million companywide program to improve customer service.

The new positions will support service-related inquiries for Comcast subscribers, including those in Chattanooga.

"Today's announcement signals the latest chapter in our nationwide effort to transform the way customers do business with Comcast," said Doug Guthrie, Comcast's regional senior vice president for the Southeast. "By adding additional Customer Care employees in Knoxville, we are reaffirming our commitment to this region."

To accommodate the expansion, Comcast is making significant renovations to its Knoxville facility, located at 5720 Asheville Highway, with completion expected in late December 2015.

"We want to congratulate Comcast on today's announcement and welcome these jobs to Knox County and East Tennessee," Tennessee Gov. Bill Haslam said in a statment today.

Over the last 18 months, Comcast has also filled nearly 200 Customer Care positions in Nashville. The company has about 260 employees in Chattanooga.
