An investigation into what happened leading to the injury of two minors at Lake Winnepesaukah Amusement Park last weekend is still open, said Dwayne Garris, Georgia State Fire Marshall on Tuesday.

Garris said Tuesday during interviews with the fire marshal's office, the Fly-O-Plane ride operator said "keys were in all the doors" of the ride at the time of the incident.

So far, officials say upon investigation that when the keys are in the ride's doors, the doors are latched. And "our investigation to date indicates that these safety devices all operated correctly and have not been altered," said Garris.

Garris clarified Tuesday that when he said previously "it may be attendants doing something they shouldn't," he was talking about ride patrons, or riders.

The patrons in this investigation have not been interviewed, said Garris. But the investigation is ongoing and open.

Lake Winnepesaukah officials did not comment on the issue Tuesday. Immediately following the incident last weekend, park spokeswoman Talley Green said, "Our thoughts and concerns are with the affected riders and their family members. The safety and security of our guests and employees are our top priorities in all we do."
