BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee is warning the public to be wary of unsolicited phone calls seeking personal information.
The insurance company put out a press release Thursday saying a company using the BlueCross BlueShield name is offering pain medication, supplies and medical equipment.
The company has no connection to Blue Cross, spokeswoman Mary Danielson said, and may be a fraudulent attempt to obtain personal information.
Anyone receiving such a call should contact BlueCross's fraud unit, at 1-888-343-4221.
