Chuy's, the Austin, Tex.-based Tex-Mex restaurant moving into the site of the former Romano's Marcaroni Grill near Hamilton Place Mall, plans to begin hiring up to 175 employees next week to help open its first Chattanooga location.

The new Chattanooga eatery is scheduled to open June 28 at at 2271 Gunbarrel Road.

Chuy's already has restaurants in Nashville, Knoxville, Murfreesboro and Atlanta among its 67 locations mostly in the South and Midwest.

"We are thrilled to bring authentic Tex-Mex to the Chattanooga area," said Christine Bailey, the owner of Chuy's Chattanooga. "We are looking for excited and motivated staff that are as passionate as we are about making and serving quality, fresh food."

Interested applicants can apply Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. in the Chuy's hiring trailer at the future site of Chuy's Chattanooga on Gunbarrel Road.

Founded in 1982 in Austin, Texas, Chuy's menu offers family recipes from south Texas, New Mexico and Mexican border towns, all made to order from the freshest ingredients.
