CHI Memorial Hospital is conducting a job fair Tuesday from 5-8 p.m. in the Community Rooms of its Glenwood facility to hire new nurses, med techs and other jobs at the Chattanooga hospital.

Memorial, which employs about 3,600 workers, typically hires about 650 new workers a year. Next week's job fair will include many managers and leaders prepared to interview and make on-site job offers, according to Brad Pope, senior vice president of human resources at Memorial.

Current openings include registered nurses, CT technologists, medical laboratory technologists, certified nursing assistants, along with other clinical and support services. Some business partners will also conduct interviews including Conifer (patient billing), Sodexo (nutrition services), and Xanitos (environmental services).

The job fair is similar to one Memorial conducted in the summer of 2014, which Pope said was "very successful." Pope said with unemployment at only 4.1 percent in Hamilton County, employers are having to dip deeper into the pool of applicants for hring.

"Anytime unemployment is low, it affects every employer because the pool of potential applicants is greatly diminished," he said. "The growth in employment opportunities in the Chattanooga region further challenges employers who are recruiting."
