Chattanooga's median two-bedroom rent of $900 is 22.4 percent below the national average of $1,160. Over the past year, Chattanooga rental rates rose 2.7 percent, compared to a 3 percent nationwide increase. The cities with the highest average monthly rental rates for a two-bedroom apartment in Tennessee are:

1. Franklin — $1,270

2. Collierville — $1,010

3. Hendersonville — $1,170

4. Goodlettsville — $930

5. Nashville — $1,130

6. Murfreesboro — $1,090

7. Gallatin — $1,030

8. Knoxville — $920

9. Chattanooga — $900

10. Memphis — $830
