Thompson Engineering tops
Thompson Engineering's Tennessee operations received the "Outstanding Employer of the Year" designation by the Tennessee Society of Professional Engineers.
Thompson Engineering was chosen for its outstanding contributions to the advancement and improvement of the engineering profession through its policies and practices.
"It's an honor to be recognized by our peers for a commitment to our core values and to our team members," said Mack McCarley, director of Thompson Engineering's Tennessee operations. A number of company practices led to the selection of Thompson Engineering for the award, including flexible work hours, health benefits, retirement contributions, training, community involvement and paid gym memberships.
Thompson Engineering serves the Tennessee region from its Chattanooga offices.
Company marks grand opening
Pigtails & Crewcuts held its grand opening last week at 7550 East Brainerd Road, Suite 111. The business offers hair-care services and hosts kid-themed parties in its party room. The salon has a child-sized pedicure chair for spa parties and individual treatments, which include foot scrub, lotion and painted nails.
Steele earns certification
Robin Steele of Chattanooga recently earned the designation of certified medical practice manager by completing the DM University web-based CMPM Program.
"Ms. Steele's commitment to professional excellence is commendable," stated Philip Dickey, program director.
The course of study demands a commitment via Internet learning and focuses on knowledge that prepares practice managers to lead their practices in a changing health care industry.
DoctorsManagement is a national health care practice management and consulting firm headquartered in Knoxville.
Innovation Award finalists named
Four Chattanooga-area companies have been selected as finalists for the 2012 Spirit of Innovation Award.
This year's nominees are American Bicycle Group, Motion View Software LLC, Sherman + Reilly Inc. and Woople LLC. The Spirit of Innovation Award recognizes companies for innovative products, services and ways of doing business in the Chattanooga region.
The Chattanooga Area Chamber of Commerce will present the award at its 12th annual luncheon Nov. 13 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Chattanooga Convention Center.
CBL Cares helping College Hill Courts
CBL & Associates Management Inc. recently helped homeless families transition to permanent housing through Family Promise of Greater Chattanooga's centralized intake program.
CBL developed a new initiative in 2011, CBL Cares, which was designed to boost morale, foster camaraderie and change lives through cause marketing.
In 2011, the corporate management team partnered with Family Promise to provide a day of service at the organization's day center along with providing new roll away cots and other needed items.
This year, the team once again worked with Family Promise to help transition two families to permanent housing at College Hill Courts.
