Iglesias to head Unum legal unit

Lisa G. Iglesias is joining the Unum Group as executive vice president and general counsel. She succeeds Liston Bishop III, who is retiring in March.

"Bo has made many significant contributions to Unum as a member of my leadership team," Unum CEO Tom Watjen said. "We will certainly miss his leadership, and we wish him well in retirement."

Iglesias was most recently senior vice president, general counsel and corporate secretary for WellCare Health Plans Inc., in Tampa, Fla. She has more than 20 years of legal experience across corporate governance, securities, commercial transactions, litigation and regulatory.

Prior to her work with WellCare, Iglesias was general counsel to Spherion Corp., general counsel for Nordstrom, Inc., and an associate with Greenberg Traurig. She began her career as a tax specialist with KPMG before receiving her law degree from the University of Miami. She is a member of the bar in multiple states and a certified public accountant.

Iglesias will oversee Unum's departments of law, government affairs, audit and compliance. She joins the company in January and will be based in Chattanooga.

"Lisa has extensive experience with all aspects of legal compliance, and I am excited to welcome her to Unum," Watjen said.

Life Care Centers of America presented its Danette Henry Servant Leader Award to two associates: Tanya Mazzolini, vice president of accounting, and J.D. Hawkins, maintenance assistant.

"It is unusual for Life Care to have two winners for this award, but both Tanya and J.D. deliver such outstanding customer service that we are pleased to recognize each of them," said Beecher Hunter, Life Care president.

Mazzolini, who has worked for Life Care for 29 years, was praised for her willingness to take on leadership of the state and local tax department this year. She was also nominated for her professionalism, encouraging leadership style and caring heart for the community.

Mazzolini currently serves as the chairman of the board of directors for United Way of Bradley County and as a member of Life Care's Wellness Committee. She is involved with American Cancer Society's Relay for Life, the Alzheimer's Association's Walk to End Alzheimer's and outreach activities with First Baptist Church of Cleveland. In 2013, she travelled to the Philippines after Typhoon Haiyan to minister to children at an orphanage.

Hawkins was praised for his reliability, flexibility and selflessness, often coming in at a moment's notice to assist associates. He goes out of his way to serve associates in person rather than over the phone.

"He doesn't find the easiest route to do a task," said D.J. Slivka, executive director at Lynchburg Nursing Center in Lynchburg, Tenn. "Rather, he finds the correct way to complete something regardless of how long or hard he has to work."
