History: Ooltewah-based Independent Healthcare Properties, LLC, was founded in 1996 by Greg A. Vital and Franklin Farrow. The current Morning Pointe of Chattanooga assisted living facility was purchased and turned into an assisted-living facility. The company is expanding in Kentucky and Tennessee.
Purpose: To house The Lantern at Morning Pointe Alzheimer's Center of Excellence.

Scope: Morning Pointe has increasingly been building stand-alone Alzheimer's facilities that offer small vocational settings that match the memories and life experiences of residents to their physical environment. Lantern facilities also feature full wall murals depicting events and traditions unique to their cities.
Timeline: The Lantern facility will be in the current Morning Pointe of Chattanooga building, after residents move to the newly built facility and the current building undergoes a renovation. The facility's opening is scheduled to follow the opening of the Morning Pointe of Chattanooga Shallowford facility in January 2015.
