Vaughn wins top ad honor

Roger Vaughn, a partner and creative director for The Johnson Group, has been recognized with the prestigious lifetime achievement award from the American Advertising Federation of Chattanooga (AAF Chattanooga).

Vaughn received the 2014 Silver Medal, which the advertising group established in 1959 to recognize advertising industry professionals who have made outstanding contributions to their industry.

Vaughn's advertising portfolio includes television, radio, print and digital work for such clients as McDonald's, Volkswagen, Comcast, Krystal, Cracker Barrel, Sprint, Cricket Wireless, Sunbelt Granola Bars, Brach's Candy, Blue Cross/Blue Shield, Rubbermaid, and AirTran Airlines. His work has been recognized with multiple local, regional and national ADDYs; national EFFIEs; ShowSouth awards; and ADWEEK magazine's Icon Award for Technology Marketing.

"Roger challenges the status quo, every day with his creative thinking," said Joe Johnson, CEO of The Johnson Group. "He'll push the boundaries of creativity so far on some ideas that it scares you. And he'll really fight for a great idea because he knows it's the right thing to do."

In addition to his advertising work, Vaughn has created music video concepts for high-profile acts including Eric Church, Florida-Georgia Line, Josh Turner, Thomas Rhett and Sara Watkins of Nickel Creek. This work has been recognized with multiple CMA, CMT and ACM awards and nominations.

Two join Salvation Army

Jill Norton Woodruff has been named director of volunteer services and special events and Matthew Dodgins has been appointed social media and donor relations coordinator for the Salvation Army in Chattanooga.

Woodruff is a Cleveland, Tenn., native and has over two decades of experience with nonprofits in volunteer management including The Riverbend Festival, University of Western North Carolina and the American Cancer Society.

"Jill brings years of experience in coordinating volunteers to this position," said Salvation Army Community Relations and Development Department Head Kimberly George. "I know she is exactly who we need to manage our robust volunteer team for continued growth along with our events."

Dodgins has worked for the past six years on Salvation Army accounts with a direct response company in Atlanta. Dodgins has volunteered with several Salvation Army programs as well.

TMA honors Dr. Worthington

A prominent Chattanooga physician and nonprofit regional blood center Blood Assurance were among the recipients of the 2015 Tennessee Medical Association annual awards.

Dr. J. Mack Worthington was honored with an Outstanding Physician Award, given annually by the TMA House of Delegates to member physicians who through their illustrious medical career make an impression among their colleagues, peers and on the profession of medicine. Dr. Worthington has practiced family medicine for more than 30 years, serving as an attending physician at hospitals in Chattanooga, Memphis and Jackson.

Blood Assurance was named a Community Service Award winner, given annually to persons or organizations who contribute significantly to the advancement of public health in their respective communities. Blood Assurance is a nonprofit, full-service regional blood center serving 51 counties and more than 70 healthcare facilities throughout Tennessee, Georgia, Alabama, North Carolina and Virginia. The center was founded in 1972 as a joint effort of the Chattanooga-Hamilton County Medical Society, the Chattanooga area Hospital Council and the Chattanooga Jaycees to provide a safe and adequate supply of blood and blood components to patients.

Currently, Blood Assurance has 14 locations and 13 active bloodmobiles to collect life-saving blood products from volunteers in the community.

Foy wins CFA annual award

Belinda Foy is named the 2015 recipient of the Terri Farmer award by the Craniofacial Foundation of America (CFA).

A certified hand therapist and physical therapist, Foy and her puppet, Lambchop, have volunteered with children with disabilities at the CFA's annual Dreams Can Come True Camp since 2011. Foy is regional director of hand therapy for BenchMark Physical Therapy.

The Terri Farmer Award was established in 2009 as a tribute to Terri Farmer, who served as the coordinator for the Tennessee Craniofacial Center for 18 years and the executive director of the Craniofacial Foundation of America for 15 years.

Local tourism efforts lauded

The Historic High Country Travel Association (HHCTA) recognized a number of North Georgia individuals and groups with its inaugural Awards of Association Excellence.

The Best Event with Attendance of 2,500 or more was won by the Cartersville Downtown Development Authority for the 2nd Annual Cartersville Bluegrass & Folk Festival

The Member of the Year award was given to Garrett Teems, marketing manager at the Dalton Area Convention and Visitors Bureau.

The Best Marketing Piece/Effort was won by the Dalton Area Convention and Visitors Bureau for the Civil War 150th program.

Jett joins Blakely as attorney

Russ Blakely and Associates (RBA), an area employee benefits consulting firm, has hired attorney Steve Jett as its compliance officer in the company's Chattanooga office.

Jett also joins his son, Austin Jett, who is an employee benefits advisor with the firm.

"Under PPACA (Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act), employers today have more benefits compliance responsibility than they did in the past, and can expect the load, and the enforcement, to increase even more in the future", said RBA president Russ Blakely.

Williams joins KMT Creative

KMT Creative recently expanded its professional team with the hiring of Brett Williams as Account Strategist.

Williams has worked in advertising and marketing for 21 years, with the majority of that experience on the agency side. He recently served as the director of marketing for an organization with 4,000 employees.

Williams' marketing and advertising experience includes projects with fast food companies, wireless carriers, healthcare, government utilities and real estate development.

Dropkin named Premier Advisor

Wells Fargo Advisors has designated Warren Dropkin, a financial advisor and senior vice president and investment officer, as a member of the firm's premier advisors program, a distinction that reflects Warren's achievement of professional success by meeting or exceeding Wells Fargo Advisors' high standards as measured by one or more of the firm's criteria for revenue generation, educational attainment and client-service best practices.

Dropkin has been a financial advisor with Wells Fargo Advisors since 1999 and has 16 years experience in the brokerage industry. Warren lives in Chattanooga with his wife Donna and their two children. He is a member of Mizpah Congregation, the Chattanooga Breakfast Rotary Club and serves on the board of Junior Achievement of Chattanooga and the Jewish Federation of Greater Chattanooga.

Dunbar, Hamrick join 84 Lumber

Jay Hamrick is the new sales manager and Donald Dunbar is a new outside salesman at the new Chattanooga 84 Lumber store at 2846 Eblen Drive.

Hamrick is a native of Soddy-Daisy and is a graduate of Soddy-Daisy High School. Dunbar is a native of Peachtree City, Ga., and is a graduate of Fayette County High School.

The new store, part of the nation's largest privately held building materials and service provider to professional contractors, offers a wide variety of building products and services to homeowners and professional residential and commercial contractors.
