A new Speedway fuel stop is under construction near the intersection of E. 3rd Street and Holtzclaw.' Project: Speedway LLC is adding its fifth local gas station and convenience store in the Chattanooga market in Orchard Knob. The new gas station and store will include a 4,196-square-foot retail building along with a canopy-covered row of gas pumps. Speedway already operates gas stations and convenience stores on Bonny Oaks Drive, Lee Highway and Hickory Valley Road in Chattanooga and in East Ridge, Ringgold, Ga., Cleveland, Tenn., and Trenton, Ga.
' About the company: Speedway, a subsidiary of the Marathon Oil Co., started as Speedway 79. The chain expanded into Pennsylvania and Tennessee in 2012 after previously exiting Tennessee with the 2003 sale of its southern operations to Sunoco. Last year, Speedway purchased Hess Corporation's retail business for $2.6 billion. Hess had 1,342 locations along the Eastern United States.
